Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran was born on March 10 1949. She is an American investor as well as a speaker and consultant. She was the founder of The Corcoran Group, a real estate brokerage located in New York City, which she sold to NRT for $66 million in 2001, and shortly after, she left the company. Corcoran is one of ABC’s original Shark Tank investors. To date, she has been in every season of Shark Tank. As of February 2020, she had signed 53 deals on the show, with the most significant being a $350,000 investment in 40% of Coverplay. Corcoran was born in Edgewater, New Jersey, the youngest of 10 children from a working class Irish Catholic family. Florence, her mother was an errand-taker. Her father, Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. moved from job to job during Corcoran's early years. At times, her family relied on deliveries of food that was free from a local grocer. Corcoran states her father was a drunken man who was rude to her mother and disrespect. Corcoran struggled in school and later learned that she had dyslexia. Corcoran entered the high school system at St. Cecilia High School Englewood after she had left her Catholic elementary school. After flunking several courses during her first year, Corcoran transferred to Leonia High School and graduated as a D student.
